About This Years Conference

This year at the conference will explore the impact of the election of the first black president Barack Obama on American society and the black community. How will he be remembered by history. The goal of the conference is to give scholars of the black community an opportunity to discuss and weigh in on how the first black president will be remembered. We will explore the facts and fictions of his presidency as well as discuss the current state of the African American Community.  In addition, to looking back at the social political and economic changes in the black population, the conference will look forward to future.

We will also accept other topics, on history or current issues in the black community, like contemporary racism or police brutality. Finally, we welcome topics related to blacks and technology, social media, globalization etc.

Proposal due November 15th.

Conference Dates February 9, 2017 to February 11, 2017

Faculty/ Professional Registration:  
275.00 Registration received on or before February 6, 2016
300.00 Registration received any time after February 6, 2016 
Registration Fully paid life members = $250.00

Student Registration Information: (All students must sign in to receive conference materials.)
Presenting Students - All presenting students can attend sessions for free. However, there is a $50.00 free for meals and incidentals and an additional fee to attend a tour. 

Non Presenting Students -  Registration is $125.00. Plus an additional to attend a tour.
Students Participating in Contest -

Registration includes conference Luncheon and Breakfast and admission to the cultural event. (All registration fees can be paid through PayPal)

Hotel Registration Information

The conference will be held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Downtown Atlanta. This hotel offers many amenities and it is centrally located. The Ramada is close to the CNN Center, Centennial Olympic Park, the CocaCola Center, The MLK Center and the new Civil Rights Museum.

Room Rates: $$109.00 per night

Pleas book early we anticipate high attendance and hotel rooms in Atlanta go fast.
